The Master Kilominx es essentially a 4x4 Megaminx.
|
The Master Kilominx is just a 4x4 Megaminx, so that means that each edge is made up of four pieces (2 Edge pieces and 2 Corners), but the shape of the puzzle remains the same, so centers are made up of five center pieces. It is not an official event, but the UWR is currently 3:43.04, set by Igor Tarasov. It is a very fun but long solve, and you should be able to figure it out, but here is an overview of my solution:

Solution
Make Centers
Start by making all of the centers the same way you would on a 4x4, just make sure to look at a megaminx to get the color scheme right, because otherwise you are going to need to start over.
Pair Edges
Then, pair edges that have the same colors with each other the same way you would on a 4x4 cube. When you are pairing your last two, just make sure that you move the entire bottom of the cube (3 center pieces and surrounding edges and corners) as a D move.
Solve Like a Megaminx
Similar to the 3x3 stage of solving a 4x4, on a master kilominx you will need to solve it like a megaminx at the end. There is no OLL parity, so all edges should be oriented correctly, but there can be PLL parity, which will make it impossible to solve without using a parity algorithm (next section) or messing it up and solving it again, and hoping for better luck.
Parity
Parity is when you have two edges (Edge pairs reall) in the megaminx stage swapped. There are two types that you can get, adjacent parity and opposite parity. The easiest is the opposite parity, so I will cover that first.
Opposite Parity
Adjacent Parity
